Snapdragons also make excellent cut flowers, adding a touch of grace to any arrangement.

Direct Sowing: Sow seeds directly into the soil after the last frost date, once the soil temperature reaches at least 55°F. Space the seeds 1–2 inches apart, and lightly cover them with a thin layer of soil. Keep the soil moist during the germination period, which typically takes 10–14 days. Thin the seedlings to about 8–10 inches apart once they are strong enough to ensure proper growth and air circulation.

Early Sowing for Seedlings: Start Snapdragon seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last expected frost date. Use seed trays with a well-draining potting mix and keep the temperature around 70°F for optimal germination. Once the seedlings have grown strong and the outdoor temperatures are warm enough, harden them off and transplant them outdoors. Space them 8–10 inches apart to give them plenty of room to grow and thrive.

Harvesting: Snapdragons are ready to harvest when their flowers are fully open, vibrant, and at their peak. Cut the stems early in the morning when the flowers are cool. These flowers are ideal for fresh bouquets, and you can also dry them by hanging the stems upside down in a cool, dry place. Regular deadheading will encourage continued blooming throughout the growing season.
