It is exceptionally easy to grow, making it a perfect choice for beginner gardeners. These radishes can be enjoyed raw in salads, pickled, or as a crunchy snack. Their vibrant color and refreshing taste make them a delightful addition to a variety of dishes.

Direct Sowing: For direct sowing, plant Champion radish seeds outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked, typically in early spring or late summer for a fall crop. Sow the seeds about ½ inch deep and 1 inch apart in rows that are 12-18 inches apart. Germination usually occurs within 5-10 days. Keep the soil consistently moist during this time to promote healthy growth. Thin the seedlings to 2-3 inches apart once they have reached about an inch in height to allow enough space for the radishes to develop.

Early Sowing for Seedlings: For an early start, sow seeds indoors 2-4 weeks before the last expected frost. Use seedling trays filled with a quality potting mix, placing 1-2 seeds per cell. Maintain a temperature of 65-70°F for optimal germination. Harvesting: To determine when to harvest Champion radishes, check for mature roots, typically around 25-30 days after sowing. They should be about the size of a golf ball and have a firm texture. Harvest them by gently pulling them from the soil, taking care not to damage the roots of neighboring radishes. For the best flavor and texture, harvest radishes while they are still young; if left too long, they can become woody and bitter.
