Colorful, diverse, and pollinator-friendly: Wildflower mixes that combine annual and perennial varieties are a great way to create a beautiful, low-maintenance garden that blooms year after year. This blend offers a mix of quick-growing annuals that provide immediate color, alongside perennials that will return season after season, creating a stunning display of flowers that attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.

Direct Sowing: Sow wildflower seeds directly into well-drained soil once the soil temperature has reached at least 55°F and the risk of frost has passed. Broadcast the seeds evenly across the soil and lightly rake or press them into the soil to ensure good contact. Water gently, keeping the soil moist until the seeds germinate, which can take anywhere from 7 to 21 days, depending on the species. Once the flowers are established, they require minimal care.

Early Sowing for Seedlings: If starting seeds indoors, begin 6–8 weeks before the last expected frost date, using seed trays and a light, well-draining potting mix. Keep the temperature between 65–70°F for optimal germination. Once the seedlings have developed a good root system and the outdoor temperatures are warm enough, harden them off and transplant them to the garden, spacing them 6–12 inches apart.

Harvesting: Wildflowers can be harvested once they have fully bloomed. For annuals, it’s best to harvest before the flowers begin to fade, ensuring that they are at their peak color.
