Ease of Cultivation and Culinary Use: Leisure Splits cilantro is an aromatic herb known for its wide, flavorful leaves and moderate resistance to bolting. It is fairly easy to grow and thrives in cooler temperatures with consistent moisture. Both its leaves and seeds (coriander) are used in a variety of cuisines, making it a versatile herb for salsas, salads, and curries.

Direct Sowing: For direct sowing, plant Leisure Splits cilantro seeds outdoors in early spring or fall when temperatures are cooler. Sow the seeds about ¼ inch deep and space them 6 inches apart in rows that are 12 inches apart. Germination typically occurs within 7–10 days. Keep the soil consistently moist but well-drained to promote healthy growth and reduce the chance of bolting in warmer weather.

Early Sowing for Seedlings: To start early, sow cilantro seeds indoors 2–4 weeks before the last expected frost. Use seedling trays filled with quality potting mix, placing 1–2 seeds per cell. Maintain a temperature of 60–70°F to encourage germination. Once the seedlings have developed their first true leaves and the danger of frost has passed, transplant them into the garden. Space the transplants 6 inches apart in rows 12 inches apart. Water them thoroughly after transplanting, and consider adding mulch to help retain moisture.

Harvesting: To determine when Leisure Splits cilantro is ready for harvest, look for vibrant, green leaves about 3–6 inches in length, typically ready within 50-55 days. Begin harvesting by snipping outer leaves, allowing the central growth to continue. Regular harvesting helps prolong leaf production. If left to flower, the seeds can be harvested as coriander when they turn brown.
