Direct Sowing: For direct sowing, plant ‘Long Island Improved’ seeds outdoors in mid-spring, after the last expected frost. Sow seeds ½ inch deep and 2-3 inches apart in rows spaced 24-36 inches apart. Germination typically occurs within 7-14 days. Brussels sprouts prefer rich, well-drained soil and benefit from consistent moisture, so regular watering is essential. Thin seedlings to about 18-24 inches apart once they are established to allow room for growth. Expect to harvest in about 90-100 days.

Early Sowing for Seedlings: To get a jump start, sow ‘Long Island Improved’ seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost. Plant seeds ½ inch deep in seed trays filled with quality potting mix, maintaining a temperature of 70°F – 75°F for optimal germination.
