Direct Sowing: Sow seeds directly into well-drained, fertile soil once the soil temperature has reached at least 55°F, and there’s no longer a risk of frost. Scatter the seeds evenly and lightly press them into the soil, or rake lightly to cover them. Keep the soil consistently moist during the germination process, which takes 7–14 days. Thin the seedlings to give each plant room to grow and develop strong stems.

Early Sowing for Seedlings: If starting seeds indoors, begin 6–8 weeks before the last expected frost date. Use seed trays filled with a well-draining potting mix and maintain a temperature of 65–70°F to encourage germination. Once the seedlings have developed strong roots and the risk of frost has passed, harden them off before transplanting them to the garden, spacing them 12–18 inches apart to ensure proper airflow and growth.

Harvesting: Bachelor Buttons are ready for harvesting when the flowers are fully bloomed but not yet fading. Cut the stems early in the morning when the flowers are cool and fresh.
